The Grascals Nail Down Four IBMA Nominations

The Grascals woke up this morning to some great news. The bluegrass group earned themselves four International Bluegrass Music Association Awards (IBMA) heading into the final voting of the categories. The group is up for Entertainer of the Year, Song of the Year, Recorded Event of the Year and band member Kristin Scott Benson is up for Instrumental Performer of the Year for her banjo. The winners are set to be announced at the 22nd Annual International Bluegrass Music Association Awards taking place on September 29th, 2011 at 7:30 pm PDT live from the historic Ryman Auditorium. The event will be streamed live on Sirius/XM’s “Bluegrass Junction” station.

“It’s always an honor for us to be nominated for any award,” says Jamie Johnson, co-founder of The Grascals. “It’s especially gratifying to know these votes came from our peers.”  Johnson, one of the writers of “I Am Strong,” adds:  “The kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital really touched our hearts.  I’m just so proud that the song seems to resonate with so many folks, and we were so fortunate that Dolly agreed to join us on the record.”

The band is enjoying a very busy touring schedule this year all over the United States and Canada. They’ve been headlining festivals and fairs all over both of the countries. For their complete tour schedule, see their official website.
