Here’s another fan story for your week, ahead of our exclusive Fan Fridays feature. (Do you have a story about meeting a country star? E-mail us and we’ll share it with the world!).
Sisters Linda Lake and Dorothy Huebner are two sisters with one thing in common: a love for all things Blake Shelton. The two have seen Shelton live thirty three times and have met him eighteen times since 2001. 60-year old Lake, and her older sister, have traveled as far as 1,500 miles to see their favorite artist play live. They even send the Oklahoman Christmas cards and birthday wishes each year together. They’ve always met him as a pair, and have an entire photo album dedicated to their adventures with the tall country crooner.
“My sister and I, there’s not a day we don’t talk about Blake,” Linda says. “He’s been part of our lives since 2001. We’ve laughed, cried, screamed, lost control watching awards shows.”
For the first time, however, the sisters will be separated when they go to his concert this Thursday, after winning tickets through a local radio station. Lake will be taking her 15 year-old granddaughter to meet Shelton, instead of her sister who didn’t get a meet-and-greet pass this time around. After watching every step of Shelton’s career, the pair won’t be meeting him together. Read the full story, and interview, on The Forum’s website. Here’s hoping someone comes through for these highly dedicated sisters and finds a way for both of them to see him again.
