Jason Aldean isn’t done celebrating just yet. After two consecutive number one singles, “Dirt Road Anthem” has become his third consecutive number one Billboard Country single off country’s best selling album of 2011, “My Kinda Party.” The track has become a platinum sensation, selling over 1.3 million digital copies of the single alone.
Aldean’s duet with Kelly Clarkson is also climbing the hot AC, top 40 and AC charts right now. “Don’t You Wanna Stay” was the high-profile second release from “My Kinda Party.” His singles are completely different from each other, which Aldean is proud of. He doesn’t want to be put into a box and wants to keep country radio guessing on what the country rocker is going to do next.
“We definitely knew when we recorded this song, we’d turn some heads. Thankfully, when they turned, they also started nodding along,” laughs Aldean. “It’s been a great song to play live and also to be able to do some experimenting with for tv performances and things like that. I love being able to put out a big ballad like our duet with Kelly and come back with something a little different the next time. I don’t want anyone to ever think they’ve got me figured out exactly!”
Aldean spent the last week in Phoenix, Arizona for the Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week. He participated in the Celebrity and Legends Softball game and he also performed on the home run derby, which was broadcast nationally on ESPN. You can catch Aldean in this month’s ESPN magazine celebrity series “Fans Like Us.” Justin Timberlake and John Legend were also part of the photoshoot.
Aldean is currently out on his “My Kinda Party” tour with Thompson Square and Chris Young. For tour dates and ticketing information, see jasonaldean.com.
