Blake Shelton might not have known it, but it was his text message to Trace Adkins that let the singer know about the fire that destroyed his Tennessee home on the weekend. Adkins had just stepped off his flight to Alaska when he got a text message from Shelton.
“Blake Shelton, I don’t even know if he knows it, but Blake was the one that told him the house burned down,” said Rhonda. “Because when Trace landed, that was the first message he got: ‘Trace, I can see into your house! What’s going on?'”
Adkins figured out what the text meant, and took the next 12-hour flight back home to see the damage that destroyed his family home of eleven years. No one was hurt in the fire but his daughters were inside with a babysitter when the fire started in the garage. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but fire crews are investigating a work bench light as the source.
Rhonda Adkins, Trace’s wife, said there was no fuel in the garage besides Trace’s motorcycle which has now been destroyed.
Some memorabilia and awards were saved from the fire by firefighters.
“I have a guitar in the truck. I have a pair of boots and my family is safe. It’s going to be alright.”
