Kenny Chesney had considered postponing his May 25th date in Tuscaloosa, Alabama after the massive storm system swept through the town on April 27, killing 41 people in the city and over 300 in seven states. Mayor Walt Maddox convinced him that his show will be a step in the right direction and will help heal the city.
“When we first heard about this tragedy, we were stunned, as we have so many fans in the area and have enjoyed every visit that we’ve made there over the years,” Chesney said. “But Mayor Maddox convinced us that this is a great opportunity to bring the people of Tuscaloosa together in a positive way, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help them in this way.”
Proceeds from the show will go to GiveTuscaloosa.com and will be spread out to local charities and social services. Stay tuned to Keepin’ it Country for a full concert review. Its sure to be a night to remember.
